Bek Hyunjin

Bek Hyunjin (Korean: 백현진; born 29 June 1972) is a South Korean musician, actor and installation artist. He began his musical career as a member of the Uhuhboo Project in 1995, and made his debut as an actor in Flower Island in 2001. In addition to his real name, he used the stage names of the Uhuhboo (어어부), Maboo (마부), Jeoja (저자), and released his solo album Time of Reflection (반성의 시간) in 2008. He formed the supergroup Bahngbek with musician Bang Joonseok, and their Your Hands (너의 손) was released in 2015. In 2019, he released his second solo album Light, Many (가볍고 수많은). He has been active as an actor by appearing in various works including Samjin Company English Class and Taxi Driver. He dropped out of Hongik University and is also an installation artist, and he won the Artist of the Year at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in 2017. When asked about his job in an interview with Kyunghyang Shinmun, he replied, "I am an artist first, a musician second. In the case of actor, I only do it when an offer is made to someone." He has held his exhibitions in many countries, including South Korea, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy. In November 2023, he signed with DooRooDooRoo Artist Company.
